Job description

Being a barback at Vin Rouge is a unique opportunity for a hardworking individual in a fun team environment. This is currently a supportive role to the winetenders, with the opportunity to grow into a bigger role if desired, with primary job duties that include:

  • Handwashing and polishing glassware and dishware
  • Signing for and moving wine cases and food orders to storeroom
  • Prepping food for service
  • Welcoming and talking to customers
  • Filling water glasses and pre-bussing tables
  • Preparing small food plates for guests and being knowledgeable about the foods so you can describe to guests
  • Bussing tables
  • Assisting with clean-up and closing activities

Schedule Details

  • Typical schedule is 3-5 days per week, depending on your preference, between Tuesday and Sunday from 2:00 to 10:00 pm to start, [32 to 40 hours per week]
  • Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays are required
  • Opportunities to work private parties [1-2x per month]
  • Typically ensure 2 days off in a row that you can plan around [and have a life], unless otherwise requested
  • Overtime not expected
  • At present, the bar is closed Mondays and all major holidays, but we would love to expand hours/days in the near future

Compensation

  • Competitive hourly wage plus gratuities ($16-$18 plus tips, which consistently average a total of $25 / hour with base pay + tips).

Education & Experience

  • High school education required/College experience desired
  • Prior barback and/or wine experience helpful, but not required
  • Passion for wine, beer, and community required
  • Must be 21 years old or older

Physical Requirements

  • Able to lift and carry up to 36 lbs [a case of wine]
