The farm will host a farmers’ market, hydroponic greenhouse, fruit grove, nursery, cage-free egg production, tropical fruit groves and other agricultural uses. Overall, the farm serves as both a source of regeneratively-produced fruits and vegetables and as a platform to promote agriscience in the South Florida. The wellness retreat is similarly planned as a lushly landscaped and serene relaxation environment where, nestled among the foliage, will be a meditation center, overnight lodging, communal kitchen and dining space, spa/healing center, walking paths, recreational spaces with sport courts and calming natural bodies of water.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Regener8 Farm is seeking  an experienced Farm Manager to lead a field crew (5-6 ppl). Must be capable of and experienced in crop planning, greenhouse management, seeding, raising transplants, planting, cultivation, fertilizing, weeding, seed saving, irrigation and irrigation repair, volunteer training and supervision, harvesting and post-harvest processing. 

 

Farm Managers should have a passion for their work and seek to  constantly learn, improve, and innovate while always ensuring the highest quality production. Farmers are encouraged to research, explore, and share their organic agricultural interests and discoveries including new crop varieties, value added products, hydroponics/aquaponics, no-till, and natural farming practices, etc.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work with General Manager to assist with crop planning including successions within a season and crops between seasons, including seed ordering and inventory
  • Keep accurate and timely crop records from seed starting to harvest quantities and other record keeping as necessary
  • Meet with chefs and/or owners to determine desired, seasonal crops, communicating clearly and regularly
  • Create an annual crop plan with regular updates for the chefs and CSA about what is coming down the pipeline 
  • Implement all phases of the crop plan including: starting seeds; care of young plants in the nursery and up-potting
  • Oversee bed building including broadforking, tilthing, weed burning, and placement of landscape cloth on some beds
  • Transplant starter plants or direct seed various crops as necessary
  • Monitor crops for insects and diseases and determine appropriate treatments as necessary
  • Manage soil fertility (organic fertilizer, crop rotation, and compost program) and order amendments, and pest management supplies 
  • Oversee weed management program
  • Vertical trellising and pruning 
  • Harvest crops, implement post-harvest cleaning and storage
  • Train and manage field crew labor
  • Manage small orchard using organic & regenerative practices
  • Keep the grounds as weed-free as possible using hand and machine cultivation methods
  • Operate, implement and repair irrigation systems
  • Safely operate a compact tractor and implements, utility vehicle, and riding mower
  • Manage crew members and additional volunteers on occasion
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment for staff and visitors
  • Qualifications - 

    Minimum 2 years experience working on a diversified vegetable farm required

    Some management experience required

    Previous work in greenhouse and raising seedlings required

    Experience in irrigation, and landscape maintenance

    Previous work experience with fruit orchard pruning and maintenance, including spraying, fruit thinning, irrigation, pest and weed management

    Previous experience with tractor and small engine equipment operation required

    Previous experience managing chickens desirable.

     

    Physical Requirements - 

    Ability to repeatedly lift 50lbs

    Ability to withstand varying and extreme weather conditions

    Ability to withstand prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking
