GRACE is currently seeking a Social Media and Community Engagement Coordinator for FoodPrint.org, reporting to the Senior Content Manager.
FoodPrint is a mission-driven website that aims to help people understand how the food that we eat impacts animals, people and planet, while providing tools for making more sustainable choices.
About the Position
FoodPrint.org is currently seeking a storyteller and social media enthusiast. In this role you’ll have the chance to drive real food systems change and connect readers around the country to the deep knowledge and practical advice they need to be part of a growing movement.
FoodPrint is filling a new role on our team for a junior storyteller with a focus in content development, community engagement and social growth. We are seeking a candidate who has 1+ years of previous social media marketing or storytelling experience. This position will be primarily responsible for driving engagement across all existing channels and developing strategies for growing our audience.
Duties of the Social Media and Community Engagement Coordinator will include the following:
- Curate, schedule, write and coordinate visually compelling content across multiple social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram
- Maintain social media calendar(s) in coordination with broader communications/editorial calendar
- Monitor user comments on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter and ensure that questions are addressed in a timely manner and routed through proper channels
- Foster community engagement and build relationships within social communities and identify opportunities for FoodPrint to engage in trending conversations and news.
- Developing partnerships with other publications and media outlets, as well as strategic affinity groups, associations or communities
- Implementing strategies for developing FoodPrint’s audience across all channels and media
- Reporting on key social media benchmarks
- Innovating new ways for us to reach new people by staying on top of social media innovations and trends and find ways to use them in FoodPrint’s social media strategy
- Respond to emails and inquiries
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:
- A passion for social change and giving people the tools to be part of solutions to the world’s most pressing issues
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in social media management and/or storytelling for change
- Familiarity and experience with key functions of social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and Pinterest
- Excellent writing skills
- High attention to detail and extremely organized
- Demonstrated experience in (or at minimum a dedication to) elevating voices, ideas, needs, and concerns of communities of color and other people historically marginalized in the food and farming landscape.
- Working knowledge of social media planning and analytics tools is a plus
- Knowledge about/passion for food and agriculture issues a plus
Location: Our office is in NYC. Staff primarily work off-site but must be available for on-site meetings as needed.
Salary range: $50-55K. This is position is not exempt from overtime pay (and track the hours / pay overtime accordingly).
