Job Summary:
- Work with internal teams to manage project workflows for event programming, including in-person and virtual cooking classes and community dinners.
- Support Instructors to ensure successful events, including managing class development timelines, organizing class content, and finalizing class documents.
- Participate in the onboarding and support of new and visiting chefs to grow a team of in-person and virtual cooking instructors that are knowledgeable, capable, and exude the Pantry brand personality: fun, quirky, charming, & community-oriented. In-person training with new instructors to help them with their class docs, flow, quantities, and scaling.
- Oversee the procurement and inventory tracking systems for all programming.
- Lead weekly class planning meetings, take detailed notes, and manage agenda.
- Assist classes and provide real-time feedback to Chef Instructors. Support the guests and instructor to encourage community and ensure a smooth event. Help cook food, serve meals, and wash dishes.
- Attend bi-weekly Task Force meetings and work with the Community Outreach Coordinator to provide support where events overlap with docs and ordering.
- Participate in the recruiting, hiring, reviewing, and termination of assistants and instructors.
- Support, coordinate, and evaluate the activities of Instructors, Docs team, and Ordering team.
- Oversee cost analysis for classes and dinners.
- Support staff management by being aware of issues with staff and communicating staff needs to the management team.
Administrative and Self-management:
- Meet deadlines necessary for Ordering, Docs, and Class release.
- Arrive on time for assigned shifts.
- Maintain valid Food Handlers and MAST permits.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Google Workspace or related software.
- Ability to effectively train and manage others.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
- Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain personal hygiene.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and working in a kitchen.
- Exposure to heat, steam, and cold present in a kitchen environment.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
- Must be able to work late nights and early mornings as needed.
- Manual dexterity to cut and chop foods and perform other related tasks.
Timeline and Schedule:
- Flexible start date between late September and early October.
- The work week for this position is 40-hours, with Friday and Saturdays off. The times vary depending on when classes and dinners are running, but you can plan to be in the kitchen about 3-4 days a week and have 1-2 days per week to work on your admin projects at home.
Pay:
- This is a full-time position with a salary of $67,000-72,000 depending upon experience. The Pantry provides retirement benefits, a healthcare plan option, 3-weeks paid time off, and parental leave. Bonus: so much good food!Minimum Requirements:
