Company description asta is a vegetable forward tasting menu restaurant serving dinner and wine pairings from a very open kitchen.  our menu chases seasonality and memory so it is constantly evolving.  we do our best to source locally and stay loyal to our small farmers, foragers and winemakers.  the vibe is quirky and fun, and we let the flavors in the dishes speak for themselves.  chef calls it small food on big plates- our regulars call it love. hi i’m Emily and i love working at asta!  i get to create, prep, cook, serve and even watch people eat the dishes.  it’s cool because i feel emotionally connected to the food and to the guests which is a new and rewarding experience for me.  the kitchen is truly creative and collaborative,  and  my input actually matters.   chef alex is always interested in anyone’s idea for a new dish or project and will help you to explore and refine it.  testing new techniques and ingredients is encouraged regardless of the outcome because we learn just as much from our failures.   it’s both challenging and exciting to constantly change the menu and encounter new ingredients so its a great place for someone who is curious and motivated to learn.  the crew is a bit atypical for a kitchen…  we listen to offbeat college radio shows, chat with the neighbors during staff meal, and play games like code names and set after work.  oh and there are always lots of snacks!  i’m sad that i have to move away and leave asta, but hopefully someone reading this will realize this is the right place for them!
