Vegetable Farmer

We are seeking a full time, year round farmer to plan, maintain, and farm 1/4-1/2 an acre of non-certified, organic vegetables. We have an established farm that has been running for nearly a decade in Pine Plains, NY. Now private, the farm supplies vegetables to one family and a small scale office CSA during peak season. We have a 40’ x 60’ green house, raised beds, 2 chicken coops, commercial grade kitchen, and 2 walk in coolers. Our garden is 5-6 acres with 8’ perimeter deer fencing and immaculate mountain views. We have a Kubota SVL-95 with many attachments, a zero turn SCAG mower, a BCS, an automated Sky Harvester irrigation system, and countless hand tools. The vegetable farmer will be responsible for all garden and vegetable related duties in addition to mowing and maintaining green spaces around the garden. Additionally we have a fully outfitted maple sugar shack and honey bees. Over the last 4 years we have, and plan to, seed around 20 acres of native meadows for our pollinators. The farm has been intentionally cared for and planned by the same farmer for the last 3 years. He will be available to make the transition smoothly and is leaving for family reasons not related to his employment.

The ideal candidate for this position would have 3-5 years experience planning and managing a small scale organic vegetable farm, working with chefs, and using no-till or regenerative and organic farming practices.  They would also be willing to learn about native meadow maintenance, annual and perennial flowers, make maple syrup production, and beekeeping. This candidate should also be self-driven, collaborative, and intentional in the work that they do.

Berry Farmer

We have an established farm that has been running for nearly a decade in Pine Plains, NY. Now private, the farm supplies vegetables and berries to one family and a small scale office CSA during peak season. The berry farmer will be responsible for all berry and orchard related duties in addition to mowing and maintaining green spaces around these areas. We have blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, kiwis, elderberries, currants, and about 10 fruit trees. We have a Kubota SVL-95 with many attachments, a zero turn SCAG mower, a BCS, an automated Sky Harvester irrigation system, and countless hand tools.
