About Arizona Food Systems Network

The Arizona Food Systems Network (AZFSN) is a statewide network of local, state, and regional food systems advocates, practitioners, and leaders who collaborate to improve the food system for all Arizonans. Members represent individuals, organizations, or local coalitions who come together to deepen their connections, knowledge, and expertise toward actionable food solutions for Arizona’s food system. AZFSN is an autonomous community of practice convened by Pinnacle Prevention serving as the backbone organization. The Network aims to be a repository of food systems and food coalition information and a platform to share that information, build capacity, develop and strengthen relationships, and mobilize action.

 

Arizona Food Systems Network (AZFSN) Coalition Coordinator

Pinnacle Prevention is seeking a full-time AZFSN Coalition Coordinator to guide day-to-day operations of AZFSN and cultivate greater connectivity and alignment across the statewide Network.

 

This is an exempt full-time position with an annual salary of $55,000 commensurate with experience. Responsibilities

The AZFSN Coalition Coordinator is responsible for overseeing Network activities and coordinating multiple partners and workgroups who work together to advance the statewide food action plan priorities. This includes meeting coordination, facilitation, technical assistance, and progress tracking and reporting. Responsibilities include:

  • Collaboration with regional food system coalitions across Arizona and food action plan workgroups (food access and distribution, land and water access and protection, climate smart foodways, agriculture workforce development, and tribal food sovereignty) to implement AZFSN food action plan priorities.
  • Understanding and commitment to food system issues.
  • Experience with coalition development and coordination.
  • Experience and comfort with facilitation.
  • Skills in community organizing, outreach, and advocacy.
  • Project management experience.
  • Skills in conversational and technical communication around food system issues.
  • Flexibility and adaptability when needing to prioritize competing tasks or projects.
  • Awareness and understanding of policy and justice issues and an ability to communicate our team’s position on justice.
  • Prioritize and organize meeting agendas around meaningful gathering practices.
  • Coordinate logistics of online, in-person, regional, and statewide meetings including scheduling, agenda development, partner communications, and notetaking.
  • Work with the Pinnacle Prevention Communications team to facilitate all Network communications including developing communication tools, sharing of activities and accomplishments, developing talking points, writing reports, and managing AZFSN’s online presence.
  • Coordinate food action plan implementation.
  • Provide technical assistance and food system navigation support to Network partners.
  • Support Pinnacle Prevention’s grant reporting and Regional Food Systems Partnership (RFSP) evaluation.
  • Participate in Pinnacle Prevention’s strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Engage in professional development.
  • Participate in meetings, community events, and otherwise contribute to the mission and strengthen the branding, recognition, and impact of our overall work.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Comfort working remotely and in the office.
  • Willing to work some evenings and weekends, based on events and activities(anticipated no more than a few times per year).
  • Must be comfortable and willing to travel both in-state and out-of-state and to rural and remote communities for in-person meetings, based on events and activities. (Anticipated minimum of quarterly in-person engagements across Arizona. We would love to talk through transportation needs if invited for an interview.)
