As part of the Texas Center for Local Food projects serving Black and Hispanic Texas farmers, the Local Food Coordinator (LFC) is responsible for providing food value chain development to support business success and supply chain resilience for farms in eastern and south Texas. The LFC will provide post-harvest logistics support, matchmaking services (connecting farms to buyers), resource and referral to production support services, and relationship development (across the value chain).
The LFC for east and southeast Texas will be part of a team both internal and external to TCLF including outreach specialists from the Texas Small Farmers and Ranchers Community-based Organization (TSFR-CBO) and the Texas-Mexico Border Coalition (TMBC), technical assistance providers, navigators to connect farmers with USDA programs, staff of The Common Market Texas, and education providers (TXFED.org). In general, TSFR-CBO is responsible for production side technical assistance and the TCLF is responsible for post-harvest logistics, marketing, and sales.
Texas residency is required in east, southeast, or central Texas. Requires occasional travel in east and south Texas.
