Company description

The National Grocers Association (NGA) is the national trade association for America’s 21,000 independent community grocers. Independent community grocers are at the heart of local communities and the U.S. economy, where they provide jobs and boost tax revenue while bringing choice, convenience and value to hard-working Americans. NGA advocates for continued growth and innovation of the field, ensuring a level playing field.

The NGA Foundation is the nonprofit arm of NGA which runs numerous programs supporting careers in grocery as well as technical assistance for government programs. Our work focuses on recruiting, training, and retaining employees and connecting grocers with government programs that will improve their businesses. One program of NGAF is the USDA grant funded SNAP EBT Modernization Technical Assistance Center (SEMTAC), which provides assistance, education, and resources on the SNAP Online Purchasing Program, Mobile Payments Pilot, and other modernization efforts. SEMTAC helps retailers better serve their communities by supporting the process to accept SNAP for online grocery purchases and allowing mobile payments.
