As Urbanspace continues to grow in New York and in other cities, we are looking for a passionate, hospitality-focused, and operations-savvy General Manager to manage and oversee our bar and one of our Virginia markets. You will work alongside our vendors, while leading our in-house team to optimize sales and maintain smooth operations while creating a guest experience that exceeds our guests’ expectations.

Job Requirements and Responsibilities:

Hospitality: Create memorable guest experiences by taking ownership over issues and following problems through resolution, maintaining space aesthetics in accordance with corporate brand guidelines, and ensuring gracious and hospitable service among vendor staff

Market Management: Serve as point of accountability for all operational issues at the market, including maintenance and enterprise service schedules (e.g., cleaning, pest control, systems maintenance). Supervise all other employees and vendors of market, and maintain orderly and prioritized workflow of operating procedures

Events: Work closely with Director of Sales/Events to ideate and execute on special events and group sales activities on site (catering, private parties, etc.) at a superior service level in keeping with Urbanspace standards and brand.

Resource Management: Hire and train host staff, write schedules, maintain all HR documents, adjust & maintain clock-in/out procedure, enter and process payroll, mentor and provide routine, actionable feedback on staff performance.

Corporate Initiatives: Roll out and coordinate operations and staffing on corporate initiatives impacting site space (e.g., branding changes, systems upgrades, etc.) to ensure successful,

on-time rollouts.

Vendor Operations: Oversee policy and procedure compliance, onboarding new vendors, reviewing operations and conduct weekly meetings/emails.

Facility maintenance: Technical troubleshooting in addition to maintaining a facilities and equipment plan.

Financial Management: Manage projects and budget for the year; manage accounts payables / invoicing process

Process Improvement: As the primary advocate and owner of an Urbanspace site, escalate observations and business insights to the Director of Operations to continuously roll out new or revised policies, procedures, and operating standards based on quality business insights

● Have a strong instinct for hospitality, and know what it takes to create memorable guest experiences

● Have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar industry role

● Are a very strong communicator and team player, and able to align different parties into a shared vision and execution plan

● Have an entrepreneurial mindset, willing to take initiative and follow problems through to resolution

● Have an ability to work independently, as well as lead, manage, and motivate a team

● Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and stay cool under pressure

● Have excellent decision-making skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects

● Have a general understanding about financial aspects of hospitality business operations

● Have analytical skills and a solid understanding of business management practices and strategies

● Are comfortable working with existing POS and technology systems

● Are passionate about growing and strengthening entrepreneurial activity in the F&B space, and cultivating strong relationships with both customers and vendors
