Farm Crew Red Wagon Farm
- Date Posted January 31, 2023
- Location Lafayette, CO
- Category Agriculture
- Job type Full-Time
We are looking for people who can work full-time Monday through Friday during the growing season. We are also looking for one or two people to work Saturdays in exchange for one of the regular weekdays. (We could potentially hire somebody on a part-time basis–especially if you are available to work on Saturdays.)
You will work at both of our farm locations and you will regularly go back and forth between the two. One farm is on Baseline Rd in Lafayette (Thomas Open Space) and the other farm is on N 63rd St near Niwot.
The farm crew makes it all happen at Red Wagon! From planting and weeding, to harvesting, washing, and packing. You will also work on many other projects like transplanting, weeding, building caterpillar tunnels, etc. You will do all sorts of farm work over the course of the season and will gain a lot of new skills by working with and learning from some very skilled members of our crew.
The farm crew is responsible for harvesting, usually daily, to fulfill commitments to our CSA members, farm store, and other customers. We have very high-quality standards at Red Wagon Farm and we expect crew members to follow all of our procedures to ensure the highest quality produce. This can be an overwhelming amount of detail for some people. But you will learn a tremendous amount if you are willing to work with our team to achieve our goals.
You must be able to work efficiently at everything you do. We have a tremendous amount of work to accomplish every day. We need our whole team to be focused and constantly working on ways to improve everything we do.
One of the most important things in a farm crew member is a great attitude! This can be a hectic and stressful job. It can also be challenging at times like the mid summer when temperatures are hot and bodies are exhausted! But it can be a very positive experience when we have people with good attitudes. You need to be able to roll with the ever-changing conditions of working on our farm.
You must be willing to do any job that is required at the farm. You will do lots of work in the fields. But you will also do things like empty trash and wash coolers. We all need to pitch in everywhere to get the job done.
Finally, members of the farm crew will work at some of our CSA pickups. These are held three evenings each week, May through October.
We do not have on-farm housing or camping available.
We are requiring all employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Compensation this position is : hourly, $15-20/hr Application instructions
