Jan Greer and Michael Kokas started Upstate Farms in 1989 when they saw the opportunity to connect restaurants in NYC with the bounty of Hudson Valley farms. Thirty years later Upstate Farms continue to deliver local food grown on small family Farms to New York City chefs. We deliver products grown on our farm as well as a variety of farms in the Hudson Valley and our network represents over a thousand acres of farmland throughout New York State.
Job description
We are looking for a creative person who enjoys the art of good food and appreciates the efforts made by Family Farms in growing it. Upstate Farms is a well-established collective of Family Farms in the Hudson Valley supplying restaurants, corporate dining and schools and families in the Westchester and NYC area. We also offer a CSA style Farm Box to individuals on a subscription basis. We grow on our own farm as well as work with other producers of seasonal products. Experience in food sales or restaurant experience is needed.
You will be responsible for contacting and meeting with Chefs, supplying samples from the farm, understanding the client's menu needs through establishing working relationships, and overseeing orders. In addition to meeting with Chefs you will be responsible for building our Farm Box customers in Brooklyn and Manhattan.
This position is ideal for someone with a flexible schedule, is self-motivated and has an interest in being a part of connecting the city with locally grown food. You will be establishing and nurturing relationships with important clientele in New York City's upscale restaurants, corporate kitchens and schools as well as building the customer base of our Farm Box.
Requirements:

Compensation is hourly based at $25 per hour based with commission structure for sales.
