Prep Cook — The Corner Counter

 

Location: Red Hook, NY

 

Type: Part-Time/Full-Time

 

At The Corner Counter, we believe in fostering a community around great food, where every meal is crafted with passion and served with a smile. Our offerings include house-made sandwiches, salads, and baked goods, award-winning grilled cheese sandwiches, artisanal cheeses, and a plethora of gourmet grocery and home items. 

 

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Prep Cook to support our kitchen team. As a Prep Cook at The Corner Counter, you will be responsible for preparing our salads, sandwiches, and various catering items. We are looking for someone to work 3 to 5 shifts a week, with weekend availability required. All kitchen positions receive a percentage of the day's tips on top of their hourly wages. This position pays $17 - $20 an hour depending on experience.

 

Responsibilities:

- Prepare ingredients such as vegetables, meats, and cheeses according to recipes and menu specifications.

- Assist with the preparation of sandwiches, salads, and other menu items.

- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the prep stations and kitchen areas.

- Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.

- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure timely and efficient food service.

- Participate in daily kitchen operations, including receiving orders, stocking and inventory management.

- Contribute to the creation of new menu items and seasonal specials.

 

Qualifications:

- 21+

- Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment required

- Weekend and holiday availability

- Strong knife skills and an understanding of basic cooking techniques

- Strong adherence to food safety standards

- A positive attitude and the ability to work well in a team setting

Compensation

this position is: hourly, varies DOE, $17.00 - $20.00
