UK Healthcare Manager - Part-time Contractor Job Description

Position Objective:
Healthcare is one of the most promising avenues for plant-based nudges, with the potential to impact millions of meals; transforming patient, staff & visitor health, institutional procurement, and societal norms. As a UK Healthcare Manager, you will join our growing healthcare team, and alongside Plants First Healthcare Coalition (PFHC) partners, work directly with healthcare organisations in order to implement programs, primarily with NHS trusts.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Implement programmatic strategy: Carry out Greener by Default’s organisational strategic plan for the healthcare programme in order to achieve objectives and key results.
- Develop and oversee relationships with hospitals and partners: Build a network of contacts, secure partnerships, actively establish and maintain positive ongoing relationships with key stakeholders and partners. These include but are not limited to NHS England, the British Dietetic Association, Real Zero, MyNutriWeb, ProVeg, and Plant-Based Health Professionals UK.
- Manage pilot projects: Utilize healthcare programme and coalition strategies, tools, and templates to guide hospitals through the pilot process and ensure the successful implementation of plant-based default strategies from start to finish, including obtaining stakeholder buy-in, supporting the culinary team, gathering data, assisting with publicising the findings, and securing permanent implementation.
- Build contacts: Represent the organisation at networking events and conferences to expand GBD’s and the PFHC’s visibility and build relationships.
- Help the programme grow and improve: Leverage successes to expand partnerships at other sites and implement programmes permanently, while contributing your insights and lessons learned to strengthen our healthcare initiatives.

Position Requirements:
- Registered Dietitian (registered with the Health & Care Professions Council) OR Registered Nutritionist (registered with the Association for Nutrition)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Commitment to the organization's mission, vision, and strategic plan
- Thorough knowledge of plant-based food and nutrition
- Strong people skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and take initiative
- Experience working within the National Health Service preferred
- At least two years of relevant outreach or project management experience preferred
- Experience with institutional foodservice/catering preferred
- Familiarity or experience with healthcare sustainability initiatives preferred

Compensation:
This is a 20 hour/week contractor position paying £20-23 per hour, depending on qualifications.
Location & Hours:
Greener by Default is based in the US and is seeking a colleague based in the UK for part-time work, 20 hours per week. This is a predominantly remote position. We are currently only able to hire employees who can work in the UK.
Candidates will need to be available in the late afternoons and occasional early evenings to join calls with the US team. Candidates must have the ability to travel within the UK to meet with clients or attend in-person events/conferences. All travel costs will be covered.
