Global Growers grew out of the tremendous demand among international farmers, many who came to Atlanta as refugees of war, to reconnect to their agricultural heritage in their new home. Recognizing this exceptional talent, Global Growers connects local families to land, education, and markets in order to build healthier communities and strengthen our local economy. We are committed to cultivating diverse farmers who are traditionally under served by mainstream agricultural service providers.
Reports to: Farm Manager
Schedule: 20-25 hours/week, Tuesdays/Wednesdays/Thursdays
Location: Stone Mountain, GA
Compensation: $12/hour
The ideal candidate is: Detail-oriented, an excellent communicator, interested in the mission of Global Growers, interested in local food systems, highly reliable and punctual, and thrives in a fast-paced environment with flexibility and dependability.
Job Responsibilities:
- Clean and sanitize coolers, food bins, and packing area in accordance with food safety requirements.
- Sort, pack, and track inventory of fresh produce.
- Identify and address quality control issues and communicate to Farm Manager.
- Fulfill purchase orders for different customers.
- Maintain produce records for traceability and inventory management.
- Load/unload vehicle according to daily pack list.
- Deliver fresh produce to local restaurants/businesses.
- Host a Market style CSA pick-up site and/or work at the weekly farmers market, which includes: Setup/breakdown of Market table, produce, and value added goods.
- Represent Global Growers positively and appropriately. Be comfortable interacting with customers and building strong relationships.
Job Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience working on a vegetable farm, managing perishable inventory, or working at farmers markets/restaurants
- Excellent attention to detail for quality control, accurate order fulfillment, and record keeping
- Demonstrated experience with customer service
- Ability to track inventory and maintain records
- Knowledgeable of locally grown produce (able to identify wide range of vegetables), food safety, and produce storage requirements
- Familiar with navigating metro-Atlanta
- Valid drivers license, clean motor vehicle record, and ability to operate a cargo van
- Able to lift 50lb boxes and bins repeatedly, be on your feet standing for 6-8 hours/day, and work in all weather conditions
