Dinner Thyme is a better solution to dinner for busy people who want to eat well. We create and design our menus to be executed by our customers with fresh ingredients in about 15 - 20 minutes.  We fully prep, package and deliver “ready to cook” ingredients along with easy-to-follow recipes. When it is “thyme” for dinner, our customers experience the joy of cooking through our carefully curated and easy to prepare meals.  

Job description

The Kitchen Supervisor ensures that the food we serve meets or exceeds our standards at all times, since the amount of food prepared is always critical. While they report to the COO, it is expected that this person would take responsibility for setting the expectation for all kitchen team members to work as a team to maximize our productivity. The Kitchen Supervisor is the example of our standards at all times, whether it is cleanliness, organization, or food quality. They are also responsible for the speed and accuracy of the team. The Kitchen Supervisor must be able to work effectively with limited supervision and demonstrate leadership in order to motivate others.  He/She will also be responsible for sourcing.  Note this job is located in the Bronx, NY (Hunt's Point).

Responsibilities

  • This is a leadership position responsible for the development and operation of their team to support one of the most critical factors in our success, food quality  
  • Successfully source all ingredients with accuracy to amounts needed (minimal waste), includes running errand to produce market, restaurant depot, and other sources
  • Responsible for food safety and standards
  • Perform basic repairs as needed to the kitchen equipment or seek the help from upper management who can perform repairs
  • Develop and cross train all team members
  • Update and maintain kitchen best practice documentation including prep lists, shoppings lists, inventory, and yield tests
  • Ensure a sense of urgency from all kitchen team members at all times
  • Assign daily work tasks and manage breaks
  • Help support menu development, recipe testing, and scaling of recipes
  • Ensure cleanliness
  • Manage the day-to-day operation
  • Identify and solve real problems
  • Manage inventory rotation and product storage standards

 

Skills Required

  • Organizational skills to prioritize daily tasks
  • Positive attitude and must be punctual
  • Understanding all key business standards related to food, service and cleanliness
  • Communicating with the COO of basic repairs and upkeep to the facility, including the equipment (necessary in order to minimize expenses and maximize productivity with as little downtime as possible)
  • Effectively lead the development of others, including work relationships, with emphasis on an exceptional work environment for all employees
  • Delegate daily tasks and hold the team accountable for those tasks
  • A thorough knowledge of our recipes and food preparation procedures in order to effectively manage the standards with kitchen team members
  • Develop a mutual respect among team members to insure success and excellence
  • Make some damn good tasty food - easy to make, creative, relevant, easy to scale, marketable
  • 3-5 years experience in a management position
  • NY Food Handlers License
