Okonomi is a small 12-seat neighborhood kitchen in Williamsburg, Brooklyn that practices Japanese mottainai cuisine. By day, Okonomi serves traditional Japanese ichiju-sansai set meals for breakfast and lunch. In the evenings, Okonomi becomes YUJI Ramen and offers an a la carte menu of seafood-rich ramen and mazemen. Saturday & Sunday evenings are reserved for our ten-course omakase tasting menu.
Our retail store, Osakana, opened in August 2016 just a few blocks from the restaurant. Osakana is a Japanese-style fish retailer dedicated to providing high-quality, local, and seasonal seafood to the community.
New employees are offered part-time positions and are paid hourly. We are a gratuity-free restaurant; no tips are accepted. Part-time employees may be eventually offered full-time salaried employment with benefits (healthcare, retirement fund matching, transportation reimbursement, etc.)
Responsibilities
- Warmly greeting and thanking customers
- Presenting our menu and explaining ingredients of dishes
- Identifying customers' food allergies and dietary restrictions
- Dishwashing
- Cleaning and organizing
- Managing waitlist and seating arrangements
- Knowledge of Japanese cuisine / language
- NYC Department of Health Food Protection Certificate
