Job description
SALARY:~ $450 per week + paid holidays + PTO+ farm fresh food
HOURS: 30 hours per week for 43 weeks + occasional weekend work for Wylde Center events and volunteers
EMPLOYMENT TERM: Begins February 11, 2017. This is a 10 month fellowship position.

About the Position
The Wylde Center Farm Fellow will work for 10 months to grow food and herbs on two small urban plots to run a small CSA and to feed programs related to underserved communities where we work. You will work with the Greenspace Director to plan, grow, harvest and distribute organically and naturally grown food. You will learn to run a small farm operation independently with guidance from experienced growers including greenhouse, CSA, and administration. The Farm Fellow will work to foster relationships with local communities including CSA members, volunteers and program communities. The Farm Fellow will also participate in regularly scheduled workdays and other Wylde Center related events. This position is designed for someone who is currently enrolled in or has completed a farmer training program.
Job Description
- Coordinate and lead site activities either self-driven or with partner groups in the community.
- Oversee daily operations of an urban farm including planting, harvesting, distribution, and farm expansion
- Create and develop sales logs, inventory tracking sheets, and invoices
- Operate a market style CSA
- Measure and track harvest outcomes; communicate outcomes and program status to the Greenspace Director.
- Represent the Wylde Center at meetings, conferences, and tabling events when applicable
- Duties related to being a member of the Wylde Center staff
- Provide general maintenance and upkeep to farm plots
- Manage volunteers during workdays
Applicant Requirements
- Takes direction well
- Able to work outside in extreme temperatures and weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of gardening and agriculture
- Experience working on a farm or large scale garden
- Basic knowledge of farming and gardening equipment including but not limited to tillers, hoes, shovels, pitchforks and trowels
- Basic knowledge of vegetable and herb production
- Basic knowledge of Community Supported Agriculture
- Knowledge of Google Drive a plus
- Enjoys working with volunteers of all ages
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
- Completed or enrolled in a farmer training program ( A college degree is not required for this position)
- Ability to approach a project enthusiastically and proactively achieve timelines
- Demonstrates honesty, integrity, and professionalism at all times
- Basic knowledge of developing, assessing, and managing projects from start to finish
- Punctual
- Self-directed; able to work independently and on a team.
