  • Location Carrollton, GA
  • Category Agriculture
  • Job type Full-Time
Company description

Cosmos grows a large variety of vegetables, herbs, flowers, and mushrooms on 5 cultivated acres on a 30 acre property in Carrollton, GA. We have been serving farmers markets and restaurants in and around the Atlanta area for the last six years and also now sell through a growing CSA.   We also keep some laying hens, goats, and are looking to add pork and beef.

Our location is 30 acres of beautiful pasture and woods just 5 miles outside of Carrollton, Ga.  Carrollton has a thriving downtown area with shops, bars, and restaurants that thrives in part due to the college campus (University of West Georgia) found there.  The farm is 50 minutes from downtown Atlanta.  John Tanner State park is also 5 miles away and has a sand beach on a lake, activities, and hiking trails; the Blue Ridge Mountains are an hour and a half drive to the north.

-Writing weekly CSA newsletter and handling all correspondence with members

-CSA box packing and distribution

-Run two farmers markets

The positions will start in the trainee mode, working with the Farm Manager to plan and execute for the CSA and markets, and will grow in autonomy and compensation as the membership numbers grow.  To start, the trainee will receive $1100/month stipend and a spacious room and bathroom to themselves, along with a large shared kitchen with two farm apprentices, and farm food.  As membership grows salary will increase to reflect that growth.

We are looking for someone who has worked at least one to two years on a farm that has a medium to large CSA, and who was heavily involved in all aspects of that CSA’s planning and production.  This person should be looking for a long term place to grow and continue a career in farming.
