Company description Picadilly Farm is a family farm, owned and operated by Jenny and Bruce Wooster since 2006. We grow certified organic produce on 35 acres, for 1000+ Community Supported Agriculture shareholders and small-scale wholesale. The farm is located on 71 acres of rural farmland in southwest New Hampshire, in the Connecticut River valley, just over the state line from Northfield, MA, 20 minutes from Brattleboro VT, and half an hour from both Greenfield MA and Keene NH. Job Details and Responsibilities: Summer Field Crew employees are involved in a wide variety of tasks on the farm. A majority of the work entails harvesting, washing, packing, and distributing farm produce. The job also includes greenhouse and field planting, field chores like mulching and trellising, irrigation set-up, general farm clean-up and upkeep, and occasional animal chores. All Summer Field Crew participate in hoeing and hand weeding, often for several hours a day.

Job Schedule: The Summer work schedule is from the end of May to the end of August. Ideally, candidates will be available for at least ten weeks of this twelve week period. Summer Season Crew may work full-time or part-time, to be determined at the time of hire/re-hire. The full-time work schedule is Monday through Friday 6am-5pm, plus alternating Saturdays 6am-1pm. The Saturday schedule allows for some flexibility, to be determined at the time of hire/re-hire. A part-time schedule would be determined in collaboration with the farm managers at the time of hire/re-hire. The daily work schedule includes 1-2 unpaid breaks of 30 minutes to 1 hour, determined by the farm managers.

Skills and qualifications: Farming experience is a plus, though we will train the right person. Summer Field Crew will have demonstrated stamina for long outdoor work days in variable weather conditions. The position requires heavy lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds) and repetitive work. A valid driver’s license is preferred. The work is repetitive and fast paced – speed and attention-to-detail are required skills for the Summer Field Crew. 

Wages & compensation: The 2017 starting wage is $12.40 per hour. Summer Field Crew may take farm produce for personal consumption, and accrue paid sick time. Summer Field Crew are offered a gear stipend of $100, usable for a specific list of recommended work gear. Shared farm housing is possible, only if space is remains in the Full-Season crew house - we still have one spot for 2017.
