Company description Hart Farm is a solar-powered, diversified organic farm in midcoast Maine. Our farm operation is small (5 acres) but we have a 600 acre woodlot that we manage for timber, wildlife habitat, and trails. We raise vegetables and animals primarily for our own use, but do sell excess eggs and meat and as well as our wine and table grapes. We also raise sheep and dye plants to support my daughter's textile business. In addition to running our farm and woodlot, my partner and I are engaged in farmland conservation and the capitalization of local food businesses through the Slow Money network. Job description Hart Farm is a diversified, organic farm in Bremen, Maine looking for a farm and woodlot manager. We are a small scale operation with vegetables, chickens, sheep, cows, blueberries, a small vineyard, and a large woodlot. We are looking for a farm manager who can help with all aspects of the farm, while focusing on vineyard, sheep and woodlot management. Skills desired include experience with growing organic vegetables, managing livestock, basic carpentry, fencing , and the ability to operate equipment including a standard tractor and chain saw. This is a salaried position with on-farm housing provided as well as food and firewood off the farm. We also offer the opportunity for a farm manager to start his or her own independent enterprise if appropriate to our land. The housing is suitable for a single person or a couple.
