Job description

Specific Duties:

Candidate for Cheese Monger would learn all facets in cheese merchandising, cutting, wrapping, ordering as well as provisions (dried meats, olives and cheese condiments or cheese related products) prepping, ordering and planning. Candidate would train with our current Cheese Monger, ACS CCP who is retiring. There would be the potential of future growth into being responsible for the financial performance and growth of the department and/or adding other departments such as wine or beer to the repertoire, depending on the candidate’s abilities and strengths.  Because this position currently does not support full time work, he/she would be required to learn all facets of our congruent busy food service deli including bakery, prep food hot and cold case service and merchandising as well as all facets of coffee making and espresso drink making. 

Qualifications:  

Must love cheese and have worked with either retailing cheese or making cheese at some point in their work career. Must have a love of food, great service skills with the ability to communicate with guests and staff, good judgement and good stamina.  This is an ordering position and requires ordering skills from previous work, preferably food.  This position requires lots of movement—bending, lifting as well as standing upright so he/she must be in good physical shape.  Mopping, sweeping, cleaning are a large part of the job and he/she must be able to perform these tasks well.  Person must also be organized, have good math skills and be a good day planner (understand the many tasks to be done each day and be able to execute them). Must be able to create and make large beautiful displays and have outstanding merchandising sense.  

Time Commitment:

Full time is 40 hours. At least one weekend day is required. Holidays and summer time are our busiest times and require planning and commitment.

Hours:

Shift hours vary but will be one of three: AM shifts 6:30-2:30; mid shifts 8-4; closing shifts 11-7 pm. Must be able available to work all three.

Compensation:

$14-16/hr, commensurate with previous work experience. Other benefits include shift lunch, gym membership, work shoes, 20% discount, Simple IRA, gain share, health insurance, earned time off and others.
