General Manager, Heaven Restaurant & Bar in Kigali, RWANDA.
Position open – to be filled by March 1, 2012
Commitment: 1 year minimum requirement Full time position
Today Rwanda is booming with business and sports one of the safest and beautiful settings for doing business. The country has been transformed and is a tropical paradise for living and, with Heaven's help, for eating too! Heaven Restaurant & Bar opened in May of 2008 in the lovely neighborhood of Kiyovu, near the commercial center of Kigali. Heaven started as a social enterprise to improve service levels in the hospitality sector and create employement. Heaven is consistently ranked one of the country's top restaurants with a spectacular ambience on a custom-built space overlooking the entire city. Heaven is committed to an international standard of cuisine and service, and is continuously seeking ways to improve all areas of the business. We are looking for a restaurant manager above all with boundless energy and initiative. Beyond that we're looking for someone with culinary training to continue to run an efficient and profitable operation. Culinary training and restaurant management experience are preferred as is proficiency in French and English. Responsibilities include: restaurant & kitchen management: oversight of all operations including bar, kitchen and service; marketing and promotions; financial management; management of 15+ employees. The manager should have her/his eyes on growing the customer base; increasing revenue and lowering expenses; team-building efforts, training, employee retention, managing conflict; inventory control and management of stock; maintaining customer relations; taking initiative and attending to daily operations with limited oversight; showing creativity and innovation when it comes to all areas of the business such as new promotions and special events, and designing systems to monitor and evaluate.
