Company description Big Picture Farm is a goat dairy, creamery and farmstead confectionary located on a beautiful hillside in Townshend, Vermont.  Our approximately 40 saanens, alpines and nubian goats live happy and healthy lives rotating through the rich pastures and leafy woodlands that characterize our hillside Vermont farm. We are animal welfare approved and the happiness of our goats and the land they graze is of the highest priority. Most of our milk is transformed into our award winning goat milk caramels which are sold to over 800 stores around the country. The rest of our milk goes into small batches of raw milk cheese and small batch chocolates and confections. In addition to our goats we keep 24 laying hens, several hives of bees, 3 hogs and tend an active flower & vegetable garden, and have a fledgling fruit orchard. We use our own eggs, honey, flowers and fruit in our confections as well. Job description Big Picture Farm is looking to hire a creamery manager/confectioner. Position is full time/salaried beginning in July or early August.  Confectioner will make caramel several days a week and work on our chocolate line the other days and fill in on other duties as needed including managing our supply chain and supervising other part-time creamery employees. The job is located on our farm, in our newly renovated creamery in the back of our barn with views of the hillside and goats grazing. The creamery manager will also be in charge of maintaining our HAACP/FSMA requirements and conducting daily/weekly cleaning duties and all points of control. While a background in confections, culinary and/or kitchen work is a plus it is not necessary as whoever takes the position will train with our current Master Confectioner. Passion for high quality food, attention to detail, enthusiasm, and cleanliness is. We have found the most important attribute is a positive attitude and being friendly and pleasant to work with day in and day out. We are a small and fun team obsessed with making the best caramel and confections with the milk from our own herd of healthy and happy goat friends and flavored with the highest quality organic ingredients possible. In addition to our caramel we have expanded our line into chocolate confections and are looking for someone who is excited about driving innovation in the kitchen and continuing this project as well as maintaining the standards we are known for with our existing products.
