The Standard Baking Company is seeking an Assistant Manager for their location in Portland, Maine. The Assistant Manager will report to the General Manager and is responsible for establishing and maintaining outstanding Customer Service. The Assistant Manager will assist the General Manager with various tasks involved in the overall operation of a store including measuring business trends, maximizing sales/profitability by developing staff, controlling expenses, shortages and all aspects of merchandising and inventory control.
This position will be responsible for:
- Ensuring that each customer receives outstanding customer service by providing a friendly environment which includes warmly greeting and acknowledging every customer, ensuring outstanding product quality, solid product knowledge and all other components of Customer Service
- Recruiting, training, developing, and communicating with all staff as well as assess performance on a regular basis
- Implementing and maintaining Customer Service standards
- Assisting General Manager with all tasks as requested
- Maintaining all merchandising standards, food displays, signing standards and monitor inventory levels
- Planning and assigning daily goals, tasks and assignments; assuring proper completion through follow-up
- Assisting in monitoring sales performance, through the analysis of sales reports; assisting in adjusting marketing strategies
- Overseeing opening and closing procedures of the bakery and responsible for cash deposits
- Maintaining adherence to all Company policies and procedures
- Provide a high level of customer service to both retail and wholesale customers, in person, on the phone and online.
- Other projects as assigned
Education and/or Experience
- At least one (1) year or prior management experience in retail or food service environment
- Ability to communicate well and deal tactfully with people in a high volume environment
- Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion when dealing with customer service and employee issues
- Ability to process information/merchandise through system and POS Register system
- Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation
- Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run a store
- Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates, including weekends and holidays
