KITCHEN POSITION

Well known website headquarters seeks good cook who can multitask and work with head cook on weekly staff meals in DUMBO offices.  

REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate should:
  • HAVE PROFESSIONAL KITCHEN EXPERIENCE
  • Have a positive attitude
  • Think outside the box
  • Feel comfortable making menus based on what’s available.
  • Be competent in the kitchen
  • Be able to source and deal with budgetary constraints
  • Possess strong writing and organizational skills to help with the weekly blog posts.

JOB DETAILS
  • 1 1/2 days a week and soon three days (soon meaningas soon as 2 weeks from now)
  • Pay (for now) is hourly ($20 per hour), but once we get set up it will be more solid with schedules and a day/week rate.
  • Program is growing quickly so it will grow from the 1 1/2 days relatively quickly.
  • Applicants need to be available all day Tuesday and 1/2 day Wednesday to apply.

Starch N’ Brew is a branding/marketing group that specializes in launching and managing new brands with an immediate focus on craft beers and microbrews. Starch N’ Brew is made up of Jimmy Carbone and Shehan De Silva.

THE EVENT
Starch N' Brew will be hosting NYC Brewer's Choice, the featured event of the 3rd Annual New York Craft Beer Week, which will be held at City Winery on Thursday, September 30th 2010. 

NYC Brewer's Choice is a ticket-only exclusive tasting featuring food and beer pairings, discussions on specific beers and a network/social portion. The event will consist of at least 15 top brewers representing their own select, rare and small-batch beers and brewers will have the opportunity to pick their favorite food pairing, which will be prepared by top selected chefs and food specialty stores for the ultimate beer tasting and food pairing experience.  In addition, the charitable partner for this event is the New Amsterdam Public Market.  

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Starch N' Brew is looking for a highly enthusiastic individual to engage with various specialty food stores and chefs to be a part of NYC Brewer's Choice. Over 15 brewers have signed on to the event and we are looking to partner each brewer with a specific food pairing. A description of the job is as follows: 
  • Solicit food vendors, restaurants and chefs
  • Coordinate production of food delivery pairings
  • Work with brewers and food vendors to develop food pairings
  • Set up on day of the event and breakdown in the evening
  • Commitment of at least 5 hours/week
  • Volunteer position with potential compensation

INTERN
Rum & Blackbird Tasting Tours

THE COMPANY
Rum & Blackbird Tasting Tours is a newly founded culinary walking tour that launched in October 2009.

THE POSITION
We are a very small start up company looking for an unpaid intern to join the tasting team. Our intern will be incredibly hands-on, assisting with Twitter and Facebook updates, as well as contributing to our editorial and video blog. You’ll be assisting in marketing, neighborhood business-to-business outreach, and public relations. Be prepared to make a lot of new friends.
 
We will also take to the streets, leading hungry locals and tourists into the best culinary nabes of New York city. Enthusiastic groups will follow us around the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood, of which you’ll soon become an expert.

Interns are asked to commit to 15-20 hours a week, depending upon availability. In return Rum & Blackbird will offer travel expenses, complimentary tours, and college credit.

FARM TO SCHOOL COORDINATOR
The Food Trust
Philadelphia, PA


The Food Trust, a Philadelphia-based nonprofit that works to ensure everyone has access to nutritious affordable food, seeks to hire a Farm to School Coordinator. The Food Trust’s Farm to School Program works to improve children’s health and strengthen family farms through increasing access to locally grown, healthy food in schools, along with providing nutrition and agricultural education. The Food Trust serves as the Mid-Atlantic Regional Lead Agency for the National Farm to School Network.
 
The Farm to School Coordinator will work with our program team to provide training and technical assistance, communications and outreach services, and an advocacy voice to promote and expand the farm to school movement in the six-state Mid-Atlantic region (Virginia, West Virginia, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania). The coordinator also will collaboratively support The Food Trust’s farm to school programs in the Philadelphia area.
