RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure all Mise en Place is in order, and help other kitchen staff to complete theirs when necessary and in time for service each day.

  • Responsible for organization and cleanliness in the kitchen. Ensure that all stations are continuously cleaned. You are responsible for following all sanitation rules for the kitchen, overseeing other staff in this area.
  • Ensure that all equipment is working properly and take initiative to report any problems to Management immediately.
  • Take responsibility for staff meal preparation each day at the two appointed times.
  • Responsible for stock and inventory control, and maintaining a fresh and cost effective inventory at all times. Work in collaboration with Purchaser on all requisitions. Report to Management immediately when any item is getting low, before something runs out.
  • Assist with any problems related to steward’s work.
  • Complete all tasks requested by Management and in your job description in timely and efficient manner.

EVENT PRODUCER

We run an underground restaurant dinner night called “The Local Beet”. REGIONAL ORGANIZERS

We’re looking to build a small army of regional organizers to reproduce the successes we’ve had this past summer at in launching our efforts on six campuses.  The work will be stressful, the pay will be low and you’ll be responsible for creating a self-supporting network of revolutionary hubs for campus food movement organizing in your region.  We’re looking for excellent communicators comfortable with quick decision-making, passion for sustainable food and/or cooperatives and some campus organizing experience. You will issue in the next wave of the CoFed revolution!

  • Build a support team and network of advisors with help from CoFed
  • Attend a December winter training in Northern California
  • Identify and communicate with interested campus leaders on 10-20 campuses in your region
  • Meet with at least 10 campus groups in your region and give each workshop on CoFed
  • Plan and execute a week-long training and summer support program with help from CoFed staff

RESEARCH TEAM MEMBERS

To support our trainings CoFed has put together a 1st draft how-to manual compiled from interviews with existing student food cooperatives. We are looking for 2-4 team members to edit this manual into a useable format as well as creating an online FAQ and other resources for members who are currently operating or starting campus food cooperatives. CraftCoffee.com is a new website from the creator of WhatIsFresh.com. We want to spread our passion for small-batch, artisan coffee to the masses. We’ve built a site where consumers can buy coffee from incredible artisan roasters, and we’re going to support our roasters with fresh, innovative content. THE POSITION
If you are an editor or a writer looking for more exposure online and in the food industry, this is the job for you.  You’ll have access to artisan coffee roasters and baristas from around the country.  You’ll also play a major role in developing a comprehensive content strategy (video, photos, blog, Twitter) for CraftCoffee.com.

DETAILS
  • You will work closely with our founder on high-level editorial strategy.
  • You will help shape the voice of CraftCoffee.com by working directly with our content contributors, who are primarily industry experts like baristas and roasters.
  • You will manage our social media efforts, and our Twitter feed in particular.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Prior coffee industry experience is not required, but you should be a coffee lover who is familiar with the artisan coffee world.
  • If you don’t have professional editorial or writing experience, then you should have either a very active blog or a significant portfolio of other work.
  • Twitter is important to us, and you should have at least some experience using it.
  • We need you to be available for at least 15 hours per week, but the hours are flexible and could include evenings and weekends.
  • You need to be in New York City.
This is initially an unpaid position, but our hope is that the right candidate will play a very significant role at the company and that this will develop into a paid Director of Content role.  We can also help you out with advanced web development services for your own personal website, blog or other projects.
