HAPPY (CYBER) MONDAY
While hordes of people were lining up at retail establishments late Thursday night getting ready for Black Friday, we were eating seconds (and thirds) of Thanksgiving dinner and savoring every last bite.
Since 2005, the Monday following Thanksgiving (today) has been known as "Cyber Monday". This year it's anticipated that 106.9 million shoppers will take advantage of online deals and make a dent in their holiday shopping.
While we aren't advocates for mindless spending, we can think of two worthy web related causes to promote (naturally, they are both about building small businesses):
D.O.U.G.H(nate) to SCRATCHbread
Matt Tilden and crew are 120% committed to making small batch artisan bread in Brooklyn, NY. After a year of using other people's ovens, they finally found a spot to settle and need some funds to build their business - $10,000 to be exact.
You can find their campign on Kickstarter (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1105420724/dough), but as you may know, it's all or nothing (i.e. if he doesn't reach the $10,000 goal in the next 11 days, he gets nothing). If each person donates $10, then only 491 people could reach the goal. We've got close to 6,000 on this list. Let's see what we can do.
NOTE: For each amount that you pledge, there are benefits that come with it . . . $200 gets you two private bread baking sessions and a host of other goodies. It's the gift that keeps on giving (and sure beats that tchotchke your gift recipient will give away to Good Will in a few years.)

ZINGERMAN'S GUIDE TO BUILDING A GREAT BUSINESS
We got a lot of great response from our low-tech book buying club idea. We're placing an order this afternoon, so if there is anyone else that is interested in getting their $20 copy of Zingerman's: A Lapsed Anarchist's Approach to Building a Great Business email us at taylor@goodfoodjobs.com by 2 PM (New York Time) today.
For those of you who already wrote, we'll send out pick-up details tomorrow morning.
Stay warm out there,
