We post opportunities with farmers and food artisans, policy makers and purveyors, retailers and restaurateurs, economists, ecologists, and more.

the gastrognomes is a blog for food lovers who want to put their passions to work. We profile the most interesting, engaging, and unlikely food professionals that we find, and we publish them here to inspire you.
NICE THINGS PEOPLE SAY
"I was thrilled to find you and see how thorough and up-to-date your listings were."
- Ricki, Job Seeker
"I really love what you guys are doing and how you are doing it."
- Matt, Job Seeker
"As a life-long farmer, I am heartened by the customers who want to buy local foods and the young people who want to work in agriculture and hope to reform our dysfunctional food systems. Those idealistic young people are my NYC employees . . . I couldn't do it without them . . . so thanks for the service you are providing."
- Eve Ann, Job Poster
We're so glad to be of service.

THAT'S RIGHT, 2,000 JOBS!
We did it! 2,000 jobs in just over 1 year. Although it seems like an awful lot, in a country with a population of over 300 million people, we still have a lot of work to do.
The jobs are out there. In year two, our goal will be to double what we posted in the past twelve months, and come closer to making sure that every good food job out there winds up on our site.
We also understand that the job searching effort requires more than sitting behind your computer screen, refreshing your browser every 15 minutes to ensure that you're the first to know about the latest good food jobs. Therefore, we implemented a new email alert function on the site. It allows you to enter your ideal search criteria, save the search, and get daily emails to your inbox when new jobs match your criteria. Want to learn more? Click here.
Don't forget to let us know if you run into any bugs or glitches.
But we'd be dead wrong to say that we could do this all on our own. Here's how you can be a part of the action:
This resource thrives on creating meaningful connections. The more people we meet and the more we learn, the more we can share with everyone.
Speaking of meaningful connections, thanks to everyone who showed up to our First Anniversary Ice Cream Social last week (and sorry to those whose prior obligations or geographic locations impeded you from making it). We were happy to see familiar faces and make new friends.

Joyce Guan
Co-Founder & VP of Sales
Buyer's Best Friend
We have a sneaking suspicion that the word 'savvy' was invented to describe Joyce. It's not hard to be impressed by her resume, given that her current entrepreneurial venture, Buyer's Best Friend, is the fourth job that she's carved out for herself. We checked, and it turns out to be true that running 'the world's largest wholesale specialty marketplace' involves sampling artisan products from across the country. But Joyce will be the first to tell you that doing what you love also means wearing many hats, and working harder than ever to fill each one of them. Let her inspire you to find your passion and pursue it relentlessly. Read More
