Good Food Jobs is a gastro-job search tool, designed to link people looking for meaningful food work with the businesses that need their energy, enthusiasm, and intellect. We post opportunities with farmers and food artisans, policy makers and purveyors, retailers and restaurateurs, economists, ecologists, and more.

the gastrognomes is a blog for food lovers who want to put their passions to work. We profile the most interesting, engaging, and unlikely food professionals that we find, and we publish them here to inspire you.

It's no surprise that Thanksgiving is among our favorite holidays. It has no religious affiliation, besides the shrine to which we at GFJ bow down: the dinner table. We love a good Thanksgiving feast - not only for the pastured turkey, fluffy mashed potatoes and stuffing made from our frozen homemade bread scraps (oh, and and did we forget to mention our favorite pumpkin cheesecake?) But it's a time when we all gather around the table, for no more complicated reason than a good meal and incredible conversation.
But we also love the chance to reflect on that for which we are thankful. And this year, not unlike last year, we are thankful for you, our faithful followers. When we ask, you listen (and respond), and we are hoping this week will be no exception.
As you know, a few weeks ago we implemented our email alerts. We know many of you signed up, and we are actually looking for some feedback regarding them (namely if they are actually coming through to you). How do you check? Simply log into your account and press the MY ACCOUNT button. Under the EMAIL ALERTS tab, you can access your saved searches. If you press on it and see a whole bunch of "new" jobs - but never got an email this morning - that's a good indication that something is not working correctly. If it's not, we want to know.
Thanks for taking the time out of an already busy week to do this helpful chore. The more we know, the faster we can troubleshoot.
And more importantly, don't forget to enjoy your favorite holiday treats this week - and let those that you admire know that they make a difference in your life.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Taylor & Dorothy

Jack Inslee
Executive Propducer
Heritage Radio Network
If you've been lucky enough to devour a pizza pie fresh from the brick oven at Roberta's in Bushwick, Brooklyn, you might have lifted your eyes from the charred crust long enough to spy the sound studio that provides a backdrop to one section of the dining room. When it comes to food radio, particularly in the context of a now legendary eatery, it's a shame you can't taste what you're listening to. We could go on about how excellent the concept of Roberta's is, and the fact that it makes a home for such an engaging radio show, but we don't want to delay your introduction to Jack for another moment - he just has too many good things to say, in his own words. We love Jack's story of stumbling into a good food job from a vastly different end of the career spectrum. Are you an accidental food worker too? Tell us about it in the comments section.
