Good Food Jobs is a gastro-job search tool, designed to link people looking for meaningful food work with the businesses that need their energy, enthusiasm, and intellect. We post opportunities with farmers and food artisans, policy makers and purveyors, retailers and restaurateurs, economists, ecologists, and more.

ON THE WEB

Our job search engine is a work in progress. Check out these and other web developments on goodfoodjobs.com :

Whoops! There was a glitch in our 'Anywhere' search. But we fixed it. So sorry about that.

We also noticed there were some wonky Company links on the job search page. Hopefully we cleared those up.

Do you have a recommendation? Constructive criticism? Or have you noticed a glitch? Let us know. And stay tuned for more updates. We're always scheming.

NICE THINGS PEOPLE SAY

Job searching is not as easy, nor as quick, as one would like, and when you’re a recent grad like myself, it all feels like new (and scary) territory. But every week I read your newsletter, and I feel just a little more optimistic that the right job will come along.
                           - Gabrielle, GFJ Fan

I have twice job searched using GFJ. Now I am getting ready to hire two new staff people and will be posting on your site. LOVE IT.
                             - Cassie, GFJ User

Your site's subtitle, "satisfying the hunger for meaningful work" resonates, and when I saw it I knew I found a gem.
                        - Emily, Job Seeker

We are so pleased to be of service.
We're forever grateful for Good Food Jobs. As much as we hope it helps other people, we have to admit that it also continually helps us. It started as a simple idea. We wanted to build a tool, based on a simple transaction. It was an idea that registered with many folks and a model (online job search engine) that they could understand (even if the subject matter was far different from your standard job site).

But it was 'just' a stake in the ground. One that has allowed us to come into contact with so many interesting people, observe some incredible things, and learn more than we every would have imagined pre-launch.

One thing we've realized is that our job becomes less and less about food. Or about jobs, for that matter. And so much more about humans. And fulfillment. And relationships. It's all connected.

So we are thankful for food: the lens through which we view the world and become introduced to complex issues that we chip away at each and every day.
We do our best to use this information for good - to help cultivate new tools and resources that will (hopefully) be of use to you.

Right now we're working on several upcoming talks (see the left sidebar), namely at Williams College, the University of New Hampshire's Eco-Gastronomy program, and the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Italy (more on that soon).

And we find that the focus has shifted from where to find jobs, to how to build relationships. We are learning that certain traditional efforts cause us all to miss the bigger point about meaningful work: there is no set recipe for success (and we shouldn't want there to be). It makes the path a little bit more uncertain, but a lot more rewarding.

Stay tuned for more musings on how to reshape the way that we view the job search in the weeks to come.

In the meantime, check out Taylor's cameo appearance on the Heritage Radio Network's show 'How to Behave'. The episode in question is about how to behave when applying for jobs. We think you might find it pertinent.

Cheers,

Some of the traits we always look for in a good food job seeker are resilience and the ability to be proactive. In fact, the two often seem to go hand in hand, and they jumped off the page when we interviewed Melissa. We love how she saw an opportunity and made it happen - not just for herself, but for her community. That's what it's all about. Read More
