ISSUE NO. 658
IT'S TIME TO GIVE YOU A PEEK BEHIND THE CURTAIN . . .

While we are - indeed - just a small three-person team of folks that you might interact with when you contact GFJ, there is another team of folks behind the scenes that work day-to-day to ensure that GFJ continues to run smoothly.

From our inception in 2009, the folks at Webinhabit have been by our side, turning our dreams into a reality.

The base of our business is a website, and Efy and the team of programmers (led by Serban) skillfully convert our ideas into the custom interface that you use. But beyond simply translating our ideas into code, they have been an integral part of the design and implementation, helping us understand how new technology can help further our mission to connect good people with good food jobs.

Simply put, they are not just a contractor that we hire, but a partner with whom we collaborate. They have been an instrumental part of our ability to operate over these last 13 years.

Because we work remotely it's easy to forget how much work goes into every element of the website - how the tools that we use are crafted, maintained, and monitored by real people working their magic.

If you find yourselves with an idea for how to communicate with and connect people via the web, be sure to reach out to them so that they can help you make magic, too.

tidbits...

resources on anti-racism, environmentalism and food culture AKA stuff we're reading / listening to / watching / noticing / thinking about / captivated by this Tuesday . . .

We live in an era of compounding climate disasters that seem to be ever-more-frequent. This past week we saw the destruction unfold all along the Connecticut river through Vermont and parts of Massachusetts. Among those disproportionately impacted by the floods were small farms. If you have any funds to spare, pitch in to the Vermont Farm Fund and / or the NOFA-VT Farmer Emergency Fund - which are providing relief to farms across the state.

And follow coverage from the great folks at Myers Produce, who continue to consolidate information and resources for producers in need.

As I watch our 6-year-old motor through books I realize the entire world that has opened as soon as they learned to read fluently. That is why we remain United Against Book Bans - and hope that you will join us.

We are all for free education - Robert Reich posted his entire Wealth & Poverty undergraduate course from UC Berkeley to his YouTube channel, giving you 14 x 90-minute classes to learn and enjoy.
