Good Food Jobs is a gastro-job search tool, designed to link people looking for meaningful food work with the businesses that need their energy, enthusiasm, and intellect. We post opportunities with farmers and food artisans, policy makers and purveyors, retailers and restaurateurs, economists, ecologists, and more.

Our job search engine is a work in progress. Check out these and other web developments on goodfoodjobs.com :

We're still working out some kinks on the blog re-design. It's coming soon!

In the meantime, if you notice any issues, new or old, don't hesitate to let us know. We are continually working to make the site better.

Do you have a recommendation? Constructive criticism? Or have you noticed a glitch? Let us know. And stay tuned for more updates. We're always scheming.

NICE THINGS PEOPLE SAY

Good Food Jobs always delivers amazing opportunities! I found my last two opportunities here and just landed my latest role through GFJ and I am thrilled. You offer food lovers everywhere the chance to turn their passions into rewarding careers. Thanks for everything you do!
                      - Tim, GFJ Success Story

GFJ is a viable resource to align those passionate about food with businesses searching for the perfect candidate. It has filled a niche that we foodies so desperately needed. Simply stated, the only thing better than a passionate foodie is a happily employed passionate foodie!
                                   - Lance, GFJ Fan

We are so pleased to be of service.
There are many milestones by which we can plot the success of GFJ: our first paid post, when we hit 10,000 active users, when we had our first $1,000 day... All of these are reasons to celebrate.

But growth and recognition are not all fun and games. Along with the good stuff comes some serious challenges. While we can handle web glitches (and the frustrations from users that come along with them), not-so-constructive criticism, and the other inevitable down sides, this week we've found ourselves in a real pickle (food pun intended).

If you've been paying attention, you know that we actively curate the jobs on the site vis a vis our Editorial Policy. In other words, when a job poster submits an opening, it doesn't automatically go live on the site. We get an email alert and work to approve the position as soon as possible, which includes vetting the company according to the aforementioned criteria. This allows us to fix formatting errors, catch typos, and - on occasion - prompt the employer for more information in regard to the position and/or organization.

Up until now, those organizations that post with us have been relatively self-selecting. Our identity as a small, alternative, grassroots organization has attracted companies of the same ilk. In the three and half years since we launched GFJ, we've had to decline only a handful of jobs, all of which were very clearly not aligned with our mission. In fact, when we contacted those employers to find out more about their organization, they usually replied quite quickly with an apology for not having read our terms & conditions.

But this week, we found ourselves stumped by the gray area. The position in question is for an Organic Farm Site Director, which seems like a natural fit for GFJ...until you dig a little deeper. While the immediate job at hand is one in support of our mission, the identity of the parent company seems to miss the mark.

We believe that no food businesses or jobs are 100% inherently good or bad. We've spent the better part of the last work week debating our options. On the one hand, we want to encourage big businesses to adopt better practices, and the reality of excluding someone seems against the collaboration and positive progress that we try to support. But on the other hand, as this week's new Words of Wisdom feature (check it out in the left sidebar and on the home page!) states - what you do every day matters more than what you do every once in a while. We feel compelled to stand up for what we believe in, both personally and professionally.

We're genuinely curious to know: where do you draw the line in the sand?

This is an uncomfortable conversation that may very well open us up to all manner of scrutiny. While it would be easier to ignore the issue / inquiry and hope that it goes away, we have always found this community of incredibly caring individuals to be the most valuable sounding board. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and feedback.

THE WINNER: LATEST GFJ INSTAGRAM CHALLENGE

While we loved all of the latest GFJ Instagram challenge submissions, we have to admit, the winner's was pretty clever. Congratulations to @saraghina for her witty self portrait and accompanying commentary. It won her
 2 Sunday-only tickets to Just Food's annual conference on April 6th, 2014.

Like so many of us, Aliya's passion for food was sparked as a child by working in the kitchen with her mom. Now that she's all grown up, she plays the role of educating others, passing on the recipes and techniques that were passed on before her, and expanding food culture from one kitchen to many different tables. Read More
