I follow your blog and receive your emails – as a person who is passionate about real food, hunger solutions and community, I really appreciate and value your work.
                             - Tasha, GFJ User

We are so pleased to be of service.
We're going to tell you something that your bosses might not like (in the short term): put down your work and play.

Yes, we recommend that at least 10% of your 'working time' (and more if you can swing it) should be devoted specifically to play. Talk to someone new. Go for an afternoon walk in the sun. Take an extra long lunch break. Take the long way to work. Pick up that book that you've been dying to read. Leave the office. Get out from behind your computer screen. Go see a speech. Learn something new and seemingly unrelated.
Relax a little.

Why? Because no matter how fun and engaging your day-to-day work activities can be, the best ideas are those that come when they're not forced. This play time is important for growth. It allows us to process, and opens us up to new experiences. We all need rest and play. It ultimately makes our work better, our jobs easier, and our lives more fulfilling.

We seem to always make the time for the work. And appointments. And obligations. And to schedule one more meeting. But we never seem to justify carving out the extra time for the exact thing that will likely boost our productivity the most.

So go ahead. Try it out. Now's the perfect time to stare at the trees bursting into bloom and let your mind wander a bit. We hope that you can feel the difference.

Cheers,

Taylor & Dorothy

We’ve been noticing a trend when it comes to recommendations from our weekly gastrognomes on where they see the potential for opportunity within the food world. It very often has to do with the concept of ‘local food’ – how abundant it is and how inaccessible it can be. Jennifer has created a tool that shines in its simplicity. We ain’t sayin it’s easy, but Jennifer proves that it can be straightforward. Read More
