Good Food Jobs is a gastro-job search tool, designed to link people looking for meaningful food work with the businesses that need their energy, enthusiasm, and intellect. We post opportunities with farmers and food artisans, policy makers and purveyors, retailers and restaurateurs, economists, ecologists, and more.

the gastrognomes
is a blog for food lovers who want to put their passions to work. We profile the most interesting, engaging, and unlikely food professionals that we find, and we publish them here to inspire you.

NICE THINGS PEOPLE SAY

"Thanks so much for your time and for your work in general; you give a lot of people hope!"
                          - Daisy, Job Seeker

"Thank you for your website. It is truly a gift."
                                - Sarah, Job Seeker

"You made the world seem just a bit smaller and less overwhleming with the notion that people can still communicate their passion to other real people to achieve what they really want in life."
                                 - Kim, Job Seeker

We appreciate the kind words.

Happy Monday,

We're excited to report that our Spring Cleaning efforts have finally paid off: our search engine should now be in full working order. Thanks to everyone who was patient and persistent about your feedback. And if you see anything else that's amiss - as always - don't hesitate to get in touch with us at info@goodfoodjobs.com. We read and respond to every email we receive.

Looking ahead to summer, we spoke to University of New Hampshire students this past Tuesday about how to make the most of summer work experience. Our thanks to Dan Winans (see below, as Dan is this week's gastro.gnome profile) who heads up the EcoGastronomy dual major at UNH - a truly interdisciplinary program where students majoring in Spanish or Philosophy can merge their interests with food and the environment.

Which reminds us that summer is also a great time to take a class in something you've always wanted to learn more about. Get started by checking out the Good Food Jobs education page.

They're raising funds for their project, so if you've got a few minutes and a few dollars, follow the link and join the revolution.

Dan Winans
Director
University of New Hampshire EcoGastronomy Dual Major

Although we often feel sheepish about having created our own Good Food Jobs for ourselves, we continue to meet people who have taken the reigns in their own way, and carved a good food job out of an already-existing company or institution. Dan is a proponent of this advice, although he was lucky enough to let his current position fall into his lap. Even so, his journey was not without hard work and a tremendous amount of risk-taking. All of which is paying off in a big way for each class of students who are heading off into the world to find, or create, their own destiny in food. Read More
