Good Food Jobs is a gastro-job search tool, designed to link people looking for meaningful food work with the businesses that need their energy, enthusiasm, and intellect. We post opportunities with farmers and food artisans, policy makers and purveyors, retailers and restaurateurs, economists, ecologists, and more.

NICE THINGS PEOPLE SAY

I am very grateful for what you do, and what we all do, to participate in bettering our food system.  So, thank you.  Your newsletters do not go unappreciated or unread from me, that is for sure.

Job searching is lonely. This made my day.

Another success story for you. Been at my job for 6 months and LOVING it. Thanks, recommend you guys to all my friends searching for a job...
                  - Mickey, GFJ Success Story

We are here (and always so glad to hear from you.)
A few years ago we had a crazy idea to phase out of our steady jobs and start an online job search engine for those interested in sustainable food. Most people didn't quite get it, and a good number thought we were completely crazy. You'd quit your salaried positions and give up your health insurance to do something totally open ended?

But we had a feeling it would work. And so we went against all rational thought, mainly because we knew that the fear of failing was far less painful than the endless anguish of knowing that we never tried.

6,000 jobs (let's just pause her and let that sink in... SIX. THOUSAND. JOBS.) - and most importantly, thousands of individual emails from folks who have thanked us for helping and / or inspiring them - later, we have no regrets about our decision.

We often find that when you say you want to 'do things differently' it makes others uncomfortable. Instead of coming up with reasons why something can be possible, most folks immediately come up with the reasons why it can't.

Which is why we're happy to be here to urge you to think creatively, act differently, and live meaningfully.

In that spirit, here's some more inspiration we've come across lately that we're itching to share:
  • Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, on his Regret Minimization Framework
  • I'm Fine, Thanks - a documentary about living your own dream instead of 'the American Dream'
  • Moon In The Pond Farm - Figuring out how to make the most of his own farm by educating other intelligent and engaged new farmers who will do the same.
The number one thing we hear from people we profile on the blog is, 'Oh I don't think anyone will find my story that interesting.' And the most frequent response we get from readers is, 'I am continually amazed with the stories of the people that you publish'. We all have the ability to contribute. What are you doing to change the world for the better? Let us know.

Cheers,
Taylor & Dorothy

Jeff Mailes
Business Owner
Edible Landscape Solutions

Jeff's business idea will probably sound familiar to you - it's an idea that has popped up across several neighborhoods and cities in the past several years. But the fact is, it's still not prevalent enough for us. We believe there's room for Jeff's work in a high enough volume that everyone's address could be within 5 miles of someone offering similar services and skills. Imagine it was as easy as finding a plumber...think how many back yards and side lots and window boxes would turn into lunch and dinner. Read More
