ISSUE NO. 636
AS MANY PEOPLE AS THERE ARE IN THE WORLD...

is how many ways there are to love.

Which is kind of a miracle, when you think about how universal the need for love is. There's no shortage. It's a renewable resource. Except...

Love often gets put into boxes. No, not just the ones filled with chocolate...

Boxes like: who is allowed to love, and in what ways, and how much love there is to go around, and all kinds of things that are called love - that look like love - but actually are not. (bell hooks is the writer to consult on that last one.)

On a day when love is masquerading around in all kinds of costumes - some genuine expressions of their truly creative selves, others not so much - we invite you to think about...

/ when you have felt most loved in your life...

/ how you express love for those who are no longer living in the physical realm...

/ how does your love transcend romantic love - to familial love, friendship love, and love of strangers, nature, and humanity...

/ how you offer love to those you are no longer in communication with, for specific reasons or no particular reason...

/ which small offerings of love bring the most reward in the form of gratitude, pleasure, reciprocity, etc. ...

/ how your own feelings of being unloved - now or in the past - have hampered your ability to express love - now or in the past...

/ which things in your life are you loving inwardly, but not expressing or valuing outwardly...

/ and imagine one way that applying love to a current source of pain or despair might help to transform it...

We are sending love out to you, our readers and community members. Know that you all - your presence, engagement, gratitude, kindness, feedback, and questions - are the fuel to our fire at GFJ.

With love and admiration,

Tay + Dor
