ISSUE NO. 439

WE HARDLY HAVE ALL OF 'THE ANSWERS' . . .

but there is one thing we know for certain: life has always been richer, better, and more fun when we are in good company.

We're not talking about being in a place with throngs of people, but the presence of someone, even if just one person (and sometimes especially just one person), that 'gets you' - brings comfort, breeds creativity, and makes things that we didn't think possible come to fruition.

We find that this is particularly true when it comes to food (especially in the way that we think about / value / revere food and how it relates to all other aspects of life, both big and small).

Years ago, when we launched GFJ, someone suggested that we create a parallel dating app, for people who love food to find one another in a romantic capacity. Although we were delighted by the creativity and individuality of that request, we're less about cupid than we are about platonic - but genuine - connectivity. What if there were some sort of tool we could build to help bring food friends together?

Feel free to take the idea and run with it, because this year we are craving the old-fashioned simplicity of more hand-made (if less convenient) methods.

Which is where this experiment comes in: Are you out there? Are you interested in getting to know food friends in your area, no matter where in the world you are? If so, respond here by Friday January 25th at 12 PM EST. We'd be delighted to connect you with other folks in your area by next Tuesday's newsletter.

After all, you never do know what can happen when you connect good people.

To good company,

tidbits...

what we’re reading / listening to / watching / noticing / thinking about / captivated by this Tuesday…

A story about friendship, especially for dog lovers, anyone that's experienced loss, and/or anyone that thinks they prefer being alone to being in good company.

If that pep talk you gave yourself in early January is starting to wear off, here are some powerful words of support from The Creative Independent, to keep you going all year long.

Do you wish you could eat ice cream for breakfast, or are you doing it already (aka living your best life) and looking for some outside validation? Thanks to Jeni's, the day has come.

Planting more seeds: inspired by last week's tidbits, a reader suggested that we add Fruition Seeds to our list.
