<p><strong>Market Manager for the Woodstock Farm Festival</strong></p>
<p>The Woodstock Farm Festival (WFF) connects local growers, bakers and prepared food vendors with consumers, and the Woodstock business community. Weekly food related events such as demonstrations and contests, children’s activities, and live music, creates this wonderfully fun, vibrant, and family-friendly community event. The Market Manager (MM) works closely with the Farm Festival’s volunteer committee and two site managers. This weekly event takes place, rain or shine, in the center of town from late May through October from 3:30-dusk every Wednesday.</p>

<p><strong>Job Description</strong></p>
<p>We are seeking a part-time MM to guide the upcoming 2018, and beyond, seasons. </p>
<p>The WFF is staffed by one part-time MM who typically works an average of 10-12 hours per week, with heavier workloads during the market season. The MM is expected to be at the market every Wednesday from the end of May to mid-October to oversee setup activity, deal with any vendor or customer issues during the market, and remain onsite until dusk or as needed to supervise market breakdown. The MM is also expected to participate in and attend monthly WFF committee meetings and fundraising events. The MM is assisted by two part-time Site Managers who are responsible for the majority of setup, breakdown and security during the markets.<br /><strong>The salary for MM position is $1,000 per month (10-month contract from January 2, 2018 - November 6, 2018).</strong></p>
<p><strong><br /> Responsibilities </strong></p>
<p>The MM guides all aspects of the WFF and will be expected to:</p>
<ul>
<li>Attend all Wednesday markets, arriving by 1:00 PM and staying until dusk or whenever needed until breakdown is complete.</li>
<li>Work within the operating budget created by the treasurer and the MM, to be approved by the committee.</li>
<li>Observe and enforce the Rules & Regulations of the WFF.</li>
<li>Work with the Vendor Selection Committee to establish the requirements for vendor and product selection.</li>
<li>Secure participation and process all vendor applications (reach out to existing and potential vendors to gauge their interest, supply applications, set expectations with regards to when applications are due, follow up to ensure timely return of completed vendor applications and process completed applications upon receipt).</li>
<li>Request brief description of business, photograph and web address from any new vendors for the web site.</li>
<li>Process all vendor payments, fees and dues on a weekly basis in accordance with the vendor fee schedule.</li>
<li>Collect all checks and cash from market and USPS and photocopy prior to making weekly deposits.</li>
<li>Provide a weekly accounting of cash box monies and checks to the treasurer.</li>
<li>Handle general market correspondence as well as vendor communications.</li>
<li>Address any and all vendor and customer complaints in a timely, professional manner.</li>
<li>Perform farm/business inspections for prospective vendors on an as-needed basis, to be determined by the Vendor Selection Committee.</li>
<li>Maintain regular (weekly or more often) communication with the Farm Festival Committee & Site Manager(s).</li>
<li>Attend all monthly committee meetings and sub-committee meetings, as needed.</li>
<li>Set-up weekly events/music in collaboration with the Events Committee.</li>
<li>Develop press releases on a weekly basis to promote WFF (i.e. opening day, special events, etc.) and submit them to the local newspapers.</li>
<li>Ensure that the WFF web site (hosted in Squarespace) is updated prior to the start of the 2018 season with the correct events, sponsors and vendors and update the site periodically throughout the season.</li>
<li>Draft, set-up, test, and send a weekly email newsletter to the WFF email list in Mailchimp to promote the upcoming Wednesday market, highlight the produce and products that will be available, promote the musical line up and any special guests or events and, when possible to share a relevant recipe.</li>
<li>Post several times weekly to the WFF’s Facebook page and Instagram profile to promote the events and seasonal produce and share photos from the weekly markets.</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>Desired Skills and Experience</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Self-starter with a can-do attitude and a professional approach to dealing with vendors, patrons and volunteers, alike.</li>
<li>At least 3 years prior experience managing or assistant managing a farmers market, farm stand, retail grocery or restaurant.</li>
<li>Success planning and managing budgets, schedules and live events.</li>
<li>Good oral and written communication skills.</li>
<li>A positive, welcoming attitude.</li>
<li>Familiarity with Facebook and email marketing, experience with MailChimp and Squarespace is a plus</li>
<li>College degree preferred but we will consider equivalent work experience</li>
<li>Familiarity with Woodstock a plus.</li>
