Job description
Camp Stevens is an Episcopal camp serving the Dioceses of Los Angeles and San Diego and is located 50 miles east of San Diego, and is hiring a kitchen assistant. This is a unique opportunity for an organized, self-motivated team player who enjoys working with people to learn and grow in a professional, community-based and environmentally-conscious camp kitchen.
Responsibilities include assisting the food service director and assistant chef in the day-to-day operation of the camp kitchen, including: Preparing meals from scratch using mostly organic ingredients and produce from the camp gardens (when in season), preparing meals for groups of 20-150 persons, and working to help make the camp’s farm-to-table cuisine better every day.
Some experience working in a commercial kitchen is desired. An interest in sustainable and healthy food is desired and the ability to obtain a food handler’s card, First Aid, and CPR is required. Benefits include health insurance, vacation and salary. Meals and onsite housing are provided and required.
