This position requires a philosophy that cooking from scratch is paramount and customer service is of utmost importance. Pearson's Cafe is dedicated to preparing authentic, fresh, from scratch food served restaurant style in an institutional environment.
The Baggot Street Café Manager supports SJC Food Services by: overseeing the Baggot Street Café food programs; providing supervision and development of Baggot Street Café staff; managing the financial responsibilities of Baggot Street Café and ensuring safety and sanitation of the Baggot Street Café operation.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent is required
- A minimum of two years kitchen supervisory experience or applicable culinary experience in a similar volume, quality food service establishment
- ServSafe certified, must provide valid certification with 120 days
- CPR certified, must provide valid certification with 120 days
Supervision and Scheduling Demands:
Full time (12 month) manager position with moderate supervision. This position supervises 1st shift kitchen staff of diverse background and skill level. May include nights and weekends.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Possess general hospitality knowledge and interest in sustainability and sustainable food practices
- Ability to operate Web based ordering system, process customer requests, changes to orders, menu updates and client profiles
- Proven leadership and managerial skills
- Proven training, coaching and mentoring abilities
- Proficient with word processing including Google platform and spread sheet applications
- Possess the ability to meet SJC unit specific uniform standards for this position
- Able to speak clearly and listen attentively to staff, peers, supervisors, guests and client
- Able to read and write to facilitate the communication process
- Ability to write professional and efficient emails to clients and customers
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, and clients
- Ability to lead small meeting and trainings with employees and other members of the company and cover basic health, safety, culinary and service topics
- Tolerates work related stress effectively and maintains self-control/professionalism
