Acta Non Verba: Youth Urban Farm Project (ANV) is seeking an Associate Director of Operations & Finance to help steward a joyful revolution in Oakland. We’re a woman- and BIPOC-led nonprofit reimagining what youth development can look like when rooted in justice, land, and love. As a key member of our Executive Team, you’ll bring structure, strategy, and heart to our finance and operations systems. This role is vital to cultivating the internal ecosystem that supports our award-winning urban farms, leadership programs, and summer camps.
What You’ll Do
You’ll lead and strengthen our internal operations so the entire ANV team can thrive—from payroll to planning, audits to apples. Your work will directly support community-facing programs that uplift youth and families. Duties include:
Strategic Finance & Leadership
- Advise leadership on budgets, cash flow, and financial strategy
- Serve as liaison to finance and audit committees of the Board
- Ensure compliance with 990s, audits, and insurance requirements
- Partner with our bookkeeper, payroll system (ADP), and financial vendors
- Manage CAMP ANV’s 529 College Savings Program
People & Culture
- Oversee onboarding, offboarding, evaluations, and HR systems
- Lead implementation of a new performance review system
- Foster a culture of coaching, collaboration, and continuous learning
- Conduct annual reviews and salary/title adjustments
Systems & Administration
- Maintain and improve financial systems, SOPs, and internal controls
- Manage weekly mail, deposits, and bill pay
- Plan and execute our annual budgeting process with the Executive Director
- Analyze tech and system needs to match program growth
- Maintain records of trainings and certifications
What You Bring
- 1–2 years in a leadership or finance role (nonprofit experience preferred)
- Familiarity with nonprofit finance, accounting, and HR compliance
- Strong communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills
- Comfort working with diverse teams and communities
- A belief in the transformative power of youth, land, and liberation
Other Requirements
- Must have reliable transportation, insurance, and a valid license
- Able to commute regularly to our sites in East and West Oakland
- Willing to engage directly with community at our CSA distributions on Wednesdays
