Job description
There’s never been a better time to be a part of the Wegmans Brand Team at Wegmans! As a Food Scientist, working alongside our Wegmans Brand Product Development Team, you will make a difference by partnering with our Chefs and various business units to help influence new and existing product development. You will collaborate with others to build high quality products for our customer, ensuring safe quality foods from product ideation through large-scale product production, working proactively to avoid food safety risks in products and recipes. What will I do?
- Partner with our Culinary Innovation and Restaurant Foods teams to develop new products from concept to commercialization
- Collaborate with internal chef teams and business partners as well as external science and culinary teams
- Work closely on projects and product information and establish appropriate in-process specifications to ensure accurate testing points during production process
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance on ingredient hazard analysis and evaluate products for food safety to ensure appropriate steps are in place to prevent risks
Required Qualifications
- 5 or more years of experience in new product development and/or commercialization of new products
- Experience with high volume and complex processes
- Experience with scaling up products from small-scale to large-scale production
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or related discipline
- Knowledge of meat science
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Food Science
- Packaging experience
Compensation
this position is: salaried, less than $50,000
