Company description Georgia Proud sells peaches and pecans at over 30 Atlanta area farmers markets and delivers to nearly 100 farmers local restaurants from May-mid/late August. Job description

Our farmers market vendors are the face of the company and customers and act as representatives for both the hiring company and Pearson Farm in everything he or she does. We offer the best peaches in the world to our customers at more than 30 farmers markets and in large venues.

Vendors will perform loading, unloading, set up, customer interaction and sales transactions. Our team gains knowledge of local produce, responsible pest management systems and everything about the Farm. Training and familiarization with market details is happening now. The more applicants the better!

**This position is seasonal (May-August); however, year-round work is available if it's the right fit with our other company**

**If you do not or will not live in Atlanta/Decatur area, please specify where you live. The closer to Decatur the better**

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

-Must be available at least 2 weekends per month over the summer (May to mid-August) 

-Outgoing, positive and excited about quality, Georgia grown peaches. Must be comfortable communicating with hundreds of strangers in less than 4 hours

-Current, valid Georgia driver's license (driving is an essential component of this work)

-Own a phone that does not limit mapping, texting, running Square and other functions necessary to vend

-No smoking on the job - it's not welcome around our product, at the warehouse, around customers or at markets 

 

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS

-Owning a van, SUV, wagon or pickup truck is a major plus but not required

-Familiarity with farmers markets is a plus (shopping or  

-Farming experience would be a plus

-Cooking experience is helpful but not at all req (we talk about what we can make with the food we sell a lot) 

-Preference will be given to applicants living near Decatur (near the hub)
 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

-Regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use hands and arms, talk and hear clearly

-Repeatedly lift items up to 30 pounds

-Spend time outdoors in high temperatures. It gets hot. If you can’t take heat or can’t take a heavy sweat, this is not work for you.

-Willing to accommodate last minute diversions (fill-in for vendor no-shows/schedule may rearrange) 

-Efficient: set/break down should not take longer than 30 minutes

-Responsive text time

-Timely. We can never be late to market
 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

-Responsible for customer service, proper handling of produce from warehouse to the markets, proper/safe packing of vehicles, end of market tracking/sales recording,  unloading and proper placement of equipment and supplies

-Drive to markets in our car or yours  (some are outside metro Atlanta area) to set up and return to warehouse (in some cases) or leave equipment and unsold product in vehicle overnight

-Responsible for the safe and timely transportation of product to the markets

-Responsible for vehicle safely as well as maintaining a valid driver's license and driving record (if driving company car)

-Ensure all necessary equipment is loaded for markets

-Communicate with market managers at assigned farmers market

-Keep equipment used at markets organized

-Become knowledgeable of products (pecans, strawberries, peaches)

-Communicate product details with customers

-Maintain personal vehicle in food grade cleanliness (no dog hair etc.)

 

SCHEDULE

Schedule varies. We work 7 days/week but vendors can work up to four days. 

Saturdays are extremely important but not always required.

All Saturday markets end before 2pm, all start early. 

Monday-Friday can be ~2  - ~9pm

Morning/afternoon markets are also available.

Weekends are mostly AM to around 2pm.
