Company description
Tillers International is a 501(c)(3) that works with small-scale farmers in developing countries to improve crop yields through more effective ag tools and more humane draft animal use.
Most of what we teach internationally is also taught at our farm in Scotts, MI, where we also test the farm tools and farming practices.
Because we are working with communities where tractors, pesticides, GMOs, etc., are financially not an option, we use sustainable practices in the U.S. and abroad. Most of the farming done at our farm in Michigan, for example, is done with either draft horses or oxen.
Our school of practical skills in Michigan teaches classes such as blacksmithing, woodworking, draft animal handling (with an emphasis on practical farming methods), and more. We are one of the leading organizations in North America to learn coopering (barrel making) and timber framing.
