Bilingual Mobile Market Coordinator Share Food Program

Scope of Work: Partnering with SNAP-Ed providers and community organizations to coordinate and staff a mobile produce stand through which individuals and families of all backgrounds have access to affordable, fresh produce.

 

Basic Function: Oversee program implementation at mobile produce stands, acting as the primary Share representative to the sites.  This position supervises one staff person, the Mobile Market Assistant. The Mobile Market Coordinator reports to the Program Manager.

 
  • Coordinate all aspects of produce stands at partner sites:
    • Ordering and receiving produce
    • Set-up, clean-up, customer service, data tracking as needed, and accurate collection of payments
    • Loading and unloading produce vans, organizing and transporting produce to and from stands
    • Creating a clean, organized, and pleasing display of various produce items and associated prices
  • Conduct community outreach and program promotion as needed. 
  • Create a warm and engaging community at site by building connections with participants – learn preferences and patterns of returning customers at each stand, collect information about popular items within each school community and update produce inventory to reflect community desires.
  • Maintain open lines of direct communication with site hosts, nutrition educators, and partner organizations.
    • Co-creating monthly and yearly schedules, coordinating meetings, troubleshooting program development as needed.
  • Keep detailed and organized records of sales, produce orders, and participation metrics as assigned and directed.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned and directed.

Qualifications: 

  • High School diploma.
  • Friendly, proactive, self-motivated, superb interpersonal skills (both written and verbal)
  • Community organizing and customer service experience
  • Basic knowledge (or willingness to learn) about regional agricultural practices, food access initiatives, and produce availability
  • Experience and comfort with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher, and Outlook), Canva graphic design
  • Demonstrated fluency in Spanish required (oral and written).

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Detail-oriented with ability to accurately record data, and use basic math skills quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Produce stand staff will be oriented to the mission and activities of Share Food Program, and will be able to speak about its initiatives to visitors and customers.
  • Have a working knowledge of produce, including safe handling, preparation, and storage.
  • Ability to work in a mostly unstructured environment while effectively interacting and communicating with all people and staff internally and externally, including, but not limited to Share and SNAP-Ed staff, participants/customers, children, volunteers, and funders.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and evenings.
  • Strong collaboration and organizational skills.
  • Bilingual applicants (Spanish and English) required.
  • Familiarity with Philadelphia neighborhoods. 

Certifications and Licenses:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record and proof of insurance.
  • Have completed or have the ability to complete necessary clearances: PA Criminal Background, Child Abuse Background Check, and FBI Fingerprinting.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and exert a major force to lift, carry, push, and move objects.
  • Must be able to drive a van or pickup truck and other similar vehicles. CDL not required.
  • Ability to work under most weather conditions and to spend several hours per day driving.
