The Center for Urban Agriculture is a 501c3 nonprofit organization on a mission to bridge organic agriculture to the community through education and building a local food system. We are a USDA certified organic farm in Goleta, CA just minutes from the beach and Santa Barbara.We operate 12.5 acres of urban farmland that is transitioning into no-till regenerative agriculture, and are searching for a farm-worker to join our energetic and hardworking team.
Job description
We are in search of an enthusiastic person with 1-2 years of organic farm work experience to join our farm team. We are looking for a full season commitment for the 2020 year. The ideal candidate will have a passion for farming and its many applications including the process and hard work of Regenerative Agriculture, as well as an active engagement with the organization and its mission to connect agriculture with education and community. Previous involvement with fruit trees, annual vegetables, flowers, and / or chickens is preferred. Farm work is a very physical, demanding job with long and variable days, which requires people with good mental and physical stamina. It is imperative that the candidate embodies the qualities listed below and is capable of assisting with the general duties and responsibilities as outlined. This position reports to the Farm Operations Manager.

General Duties/Responsibilities:
- Field work including but not limited to – weeding, transplanting, seeding, irrigation, cultivation, bed prep, pruning
- Greenhouse work
- Basic landscaping and orchard care
- Chicken operation care
- Produce harvesting & post harvest work
- Other duties as assigned
Possible Growth Opportunities:

Physical Demands:
- Stand, walk, balance, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- All farm work is done by hand- must be excited to use hand tools
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
Compensation
this position is: hourly, under $15/hr
