Philly Foodworks packs and delivers hundreds of orders each week to our 60+ pickup locations across Philadelphia as well as through our home delivery service. We offer a unique spin on the traditional CSA model that gives our customers the ability to customize their order entirely and sign-up commitment-free, with year-round offerings. We work with dozens of different producers in the Greater Philadelphia Area and carry a wide variety of products at all times and are always expanding our product offerings to provide a robust online Farmer’s Market experience. We are looking to hire an organized and detail-oriented food lover to join our small team that packs orders each week and perform the ongoing maintenance and preparation tasks that keep the operations running smoothly.
Job description
This position will be responsible for packing orders correctly and efficiently while preparing for the distribution each day. Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask while performing time-sensitive projects efficiently is a must to thrive in this position. Knowledge of produce is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Pack orders on the order fulfillment line three days a week
- Troubleshooting and problem solving any issues that may arise in order to ensure that all orders leaving the warehouse are accurate and of the highest quality possible
- Checking accuracy of pack labels and relaying when a count is off
- Diligently checking the quality of each variety of produce being packed for customer orders
- Removing all damaged/poor quality produce items from being packed
- Recording removed items appropriately and moving those items to the designated compost
- Maintain cleanliness of order packing stations and equipment daily
Qualifications
- At least one-year previous produce, food preparation, or warehouse aggregation experience preferred
- Fast learner and adaptable
- Attention to detail, process-oriented and disciplined
- Punctual time management skills
- Basic computer skills, ability to communicate via email
- Positive, energetic interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift heavy & awkward objects, up to 50 lbs on a regular basis
- Ability to stand for 4-5 hour periods at a time 3 days a week sometimes more
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work well independently as well as in a team setting
- Ability to take direction, ask for help/clarity when necessary, and accept constructive feedback on performance and technique
- Adaptable to changing processes to find the most efficient way
- Passion towards the local food system
Schedule & Compensation:
This position requires roughly 24 hours per week but hours may range between 20 and 35 depending on weekly fluctuations in order volume. This position is paid a minimum of $15/hour but may vary based on experience.
The hours of work are Tuesday - Thursday.
Tuesday: 7:30am - 4:30pm (or until all necessary tasks are completed)
Wednesday: 7:30am - 4:30pm (or until all necessary tasks are completed)
Thursday: 7:30am - 4:30pm (or until all necessary tasks are completed)
This position includes eligibility for PTO, access to the company health care plan, as well as equipment and wellness budget after the completion of a 90 day training period if it becomes fulltime. This position has the opportunity to develop and become full time taking on more responsibilities. We are looking for someone to grow with the company and develop with us over time as we grow.
Compensation
this position is: hourly, under $15/hr
