We offer pre-measured, oxygen-sealed spice pods containing ethically-sourced, high quality spices, so people trying new recipes can make great food without stocking up on products they may not use again (or at least anytime soon).
Job description
We’re looking to hire a Specialty Spice Sourcing Contractor who will be responsible for the strategic sourcing of all the quality spices, herbs and blends that make up Occo’s products. The Contractor will work closely with the company co-founders to expand our current network of suppliers and help us bring ethical, high-quality, and authentic flavors to our customers.
Key responsibilities:
- Identify and vet specialty suppliers of specific varieties of high-quality, small-batch, ethically-produced and ideally single-origin spices, herbs, and blends from all around the world
- Conduct price and volume negotiations
- Cultivate chosen suppliers as partners and maintain positive and collaborative relationships throughout procurement process
- Support sourcing-related record-keeping efforts
- Coordinate purchasing and shipping with co-founders
Qualifications and experience
- 3-5 years of CPG supply chain buying/procurement experience preferred
- Familiar with general FDA safety regulations and requirements, including Foreign Supplier Verification Program rules
- Working knowledge of the spices, herbs, and seasonings themselves and the related vendor landscape
- Ideally have existing connections to relevant small U.S.-based spice processors and distributors
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Strong negotiating skills
- Proficiency with Google Suite, Slack, and Microsoft Office
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
