Do you love to write? Have a passion for mission-based photography, storytelling, and events? We are seeking a dynamic, dedicated, and creative Communications Manager responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing a communications plan to support our development, volunteer, and partnership efforts through our website, social media, publicity, newsletters, and events. An ideal candidate should be highly organized and self-motivated with an ability to work independently and in coordination with the farm staff, executive director, program manager and board of directors.
ROLE SPECIFICS: 10 hours per week on average (higher around events), year-round with the possibility of more hours in the future. $17 – $20/hour based on experience.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Define and oversee communications programs designed to support our development, volunteer, and partnership efforts.
- Expand awareness of Gaining Ground, food insecurity and hunger relief, volunteer opportunities, and innovative farming.
- Drive GG sponsored events (2 – 4 per year) and lead GG participation in local activities aimed at broadening/reaching our community of supporters, recipients, volunteers and donors.
- Oversee communications and publications creating tools and content for various platforms: website, social media, newsletter/print, speaker presentations, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent outreach, media, communication and writing skills.
- Familiarity with the workings of non-profit institutions.
- Experience in obtaining media coverage in the Greater Boston area.
- Passionate, organized, collaborative, thoughtful, and enthusiastic about hunger relief mission and local agriculture.
- Technically proficient and efficient in WordPress, Constant Contact, Photoshop, Google Drive, Google Analytics
- A calm, grounded presence.
- Deep humility and a good sense of humor
- Knowledge of and familiarity with sustainable agriculture is helpful but not required.
